W ramach festiwalu Sacrum Profanum wybraliśmy się z żoną na koncert Barbary Hendricks. Światowej sławy sopranistka, światowej sławy dyrygent (John Axelrod) i bardzo dobrzy muzycy krakowscy (czyli Sinfonietta Cracovia). Koncert składał się z dwóch części: w pierwszej śpiewała Basia, a w drugiej nie. No i ta druga część była dużo fajniejsza - sama orkiestra i dyrygent. Grali momentami bardzo czadowo. A głos Basi H. mi się nie podoba, repertuar też był mało ciekawy, krótko mówiąc nudy. Ale druga część bardzo fajna.

Transit Kings to projekt 4 muzyków: Aleksa Patersona (z The Orb), Doma Bekena, Guya Pratta (naczelnego basisty Pink Floyd i Davida Gilmoura, prywatnie męża córki Ricka Wrighta; muszę kiedyś napisać o nim coś więcej) oraz Jimiego Cauty (niegdyś The KLF). Jak to zwykle bywa z projektami pobocznymi Patersona nie spodziewałem się niczego specjalnego, a tu zaskoczenie. Naprawdę bardzo fajna płyta!! Co prawda brzmi jak połączenie Pink Floyd z okresu A Momentary Lapse of Reason z Tangerine Dream i wczesnym Orbem (czasami brzmi to lekko staroświecko), ale ogólnie jest bardzo dobrze. Po pierwsze - kompozycje są tak INACZEJ skonstruowane, że w sumie... nigdy czegoś takiego nie słyszałem. Jest elektronicznie, raczej dynamicznie, czasem perkusja mocno szaleje, jest mnóstwo fajnych sampli, czasami ciekawe damskie wokale (Free Free, Baby Don't, Boom (bombay) czy Concourse), czasami fantastyczne brzmienia (Japanese Cars), a czasami po prostu pięknie (cudowna ballada The Last Lighthouse Keeper z pięknymi klawiszami i partią gitary akustycznej). O dziwo, całość jest bardzo przystępna - momentami bliżej jej do new age'u niż do typowych produkcji elektronicznych. Bardzo dobry album.

Słyszałem już kiedyś płyty Roll the Bones i Counterparts i w sumie średnio mi się podobały, chociaż było w tym coś... innego. Ta płyta jest podobno uznawana za jedną z najlepszych. W każdym razie nie jest zła - dużo ciekawych riffów, dużo melodii, dużo połamanych rytmów (moim zdaniem to akurat wada, chociaż z tego właśnie Rush słynie). Niezłe kawałki: długaśny The Camera Eye, ze świetnym wstępem na klawiszach, instrumentlany YYZ - prawie King Crimsonowy, Red Barchetta - fajny, dynamiczny kawałek, Witch Hunt - mroczny utwór, ciekawy riff. Reszta taka sobie, momentami zbyt popowa (Tom Sawyer czy Limelight). W sumie - kawał całkiem przyzwoitego grania.

Bardzo długa i ciekawa książka - historia szefowej jednego z największych karteli narkotykowych w Hiszpanii. Mocno zgłębiona postawa psychologiczna bohaterki, ciekawe rozterki itp. Akcja też bardzo intrygująca. Całość bardzo przyjemnie napisana, czyta się to świetnie. Coraz bardziej lubię Pereza-Reverte.
